SURVEY
KUNGSLEDEN
Why?
WHY WE ARE DOING THIS:
For Future Hikers
- Detailed Planning Guide: The experiences gathered from other hikers provide future thru-hikers with a comprehensive guide – covering everything from starting and finishing points to recommended resupply strategies, as well as the best accommodations and transportation options.
- Targeted Preparation: Insights on common challenges and trail highlights help hikers mentally and practically prepare for the conditions on the Kungsleden, minimizing surprises along the way.
- Gear and Food Tips: The survey offers valuable feedback on what gear has proven effective and which food and resupply strategies work best, which is especially helpful for beginners.
- Budget Planning: Information on costs and financial aspects gives hikers a realistic view of the expenses associated with the trail.
- Safety and Health: Insights on health-related challenges and emergency preparedness offer hikers tips on minimizing risks during their journey.
For the Environment
- Sustainability and Nature Conservation: The survey also shows how hikers can respect and protect nature – an essential contribution to the long-term preservation of the trail.
For the Community
- Community and Shared Knowledge: By conducting the survey annually, a growing wealth of experience is consolidated, which benefits the Kungsleden community over time and makes it easier for future hikers to start their adventure.
Who am I?
ABOUT ME
Hi there! I’m Lucas, an outdoor enthusiast and thru-hiker dedicated to sharing the beauty of long-distance trails with others. I run a blog called TrailNation, where I document my adventures and provide resources to help people connect with nature through independent, sustainable hiking experiences. My goal is to make long-distance trails like the Kungsleden more accessible by gathering insights from hikers like you, which can benefit future adventurers in planning and preparing for their own journeys.
In addition to writing and researching, I’m a thru-hiker myself, currently preparing for the Pacific Crest Trail next year. Your input is incredibly valuable to me and to the hiking community, as it helps improve trail knowledge, safety, and overall accessibility for everyone. Thank you for sharing your experiences and supporting this project!
